Doreen Upshaw

Doreen received her master’s degree in professional counseling with concentrations in Child and Family Counseling from Carlow University in 2016. She has worked and served extensively with children, women, and families for many years beginning with her years as Nursery and Childcare Director at ACAC for 8 years, as In-Home Family Counselor for Holy Family, and currently as Director of Service and Leadership at The Pittsburgh Project, giving oversight to it’s Out of School Time programs, summer day camps, and Homeowner services and care programs. These years of serving in both volunteer and work have given her the desire to help people on a deeper level by pursuing her degree in counseling. She has experience in play and art therapy, women’s issues, domestic violence, grief, trauma, marriage, group therapy, and various other mental health-related issues. As founder and CEO of Compass Counseling and Support Services, Doreen created and filed for a U.S. patent for the first mobile Play Therapy service: CCSS-Mobile. Compass Counseling conveniently offers this new play and art therapy model for children ages 4-13 with The Pittsburgh Public Schools, Beaver County Christian Schools children, and families who desire services at their homes.
